The short answer
What is the Shan Shen Bu meme?
Shan Shen Bu (闪身步, the "Chinese flash step") is a viral TikTok dance meme built on an old dance-lesson video, and AI Meme Videos makes your own 10-second version from one photo, with you as the dancer and the sound already on it.
Shan Shen Bu, written 闪身步 and usually spelled shanshenbu in hashtags, is a dance step that became a TikTok joke in October 2026. English captions call it the Chinese flash step or the feint step. The posts we watched keep cutting to, or copying, a dated-looking dance-lesson video in which a bald instructor stands on a blue stage under the on-screen label 闪身步, then flings out his arms and legs without warning.
The comedy is the switch. The dancer stands as if nothing is going on, then snaps into a low, loopy, oddly precise routine with kicked-back feet and arms flying out, and stops just as abruptly. Most people cannot do it, and much of the fun on TikTok is watching them fail: two people on a shiny living-room floor, two colleagues in a mattress showroom, someone counting up their practice days.
It is mostly a live-action trend, not an AI one. The AI side is smaller: dancing cats generated for the same audio, and at least one post carrying AI and CapCut marks. So this page is less a copy of an established AI template than a shortcut for people who would rather not learn the footwork.
On AI Meme Videos you upload one photo of yourself and become the dancer outside the fruit shop from one of the most watched versions, in your own clothes and hair. Passers-by, shelves and sound stay as they are.
4 steps
How to do the Shan Shen Bu trend
Upload one photo
A clear photo of yourself, one adult, face visible. Full body is best, since your whole body is on screen.
Pick a model and quality
Standard at 720p is the default and costs 10 credits; 480p costs 5.
Generate
In a few minutes you get a 10-second clip of you outside the fruit shop, with the sound already on it.
Post it with the hook
Add #shanshenbu and #闪身步, and caption it as your first day of practice.
Beat by beat
The 10-second clip, beat by beat
Timed from the original clip. Every render follows this sheet.
| Time | Beat | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 0-1s | The slide | A long side step across the shop front, arms trailing, as if nothing unusual is happening. |
| 1-2s | The passer-by | A woman in white walks past close to the lens and the dancer leans out of her way. |
| 2-3s | The flash | Out of nowhere, a hop with one foot kicked back, body folded forward, arms flung wide. |
| 3-5s | The open-up | Landing, then chest out and elbows high, right on the beat. |
| 5-6s | The spring | Up on the toes with both arms in the air. |
| 6-8s | The balance | One knee lifted and one arm swept slowly overhead, wobbling just enough. |
| 8-9s | The fold | Turning side on, arms crossing over the body. |
| 9-10s | The lunge | A wide low lunge with the arms out, held to the end. |
Under the hood
Where it came from and how it is made
The clips we watched draw on an instructional dance video: a bald instructor on a blue stage under the label 闪身步, followed by moves with their own labels such as 浪子踢球. Who made that video, when it was filmed and who the instructor is are all unconfirmed. One large account's caption calls the step a classic move from traditional Han Chinese folk dance; we could not verify that.
The earliest post we could open is from @._su05 on 4 October 2026, with about 2 million views on 2 November 2026. One older post in our list could not be opened because it needs a login, so whether 4 October is really the start is unconfirmed. By 10 October a Japanese creator, @takahnowdr2, was calling it a huge hit in China in a tutorial with about 1.6 million views.
Our motion reference comes from @china_trending8's fruit-shop version, posted on 10 October 2026, with about 1.2 million views when we checked. The largest post we found is @_gaga005_'s, about 3.3 million views, posted on 21 October. Whether the fruit-shop dancer is the first to use that setting is unconfirmed. Our trend radar first flagged Shan Shen Bu as sprouting on 23 October 2026.

Only the dancer changes
The fruit crates, shop shelves and the woman walking past all stay, so it looks like an ordinary afternoon you interrupted.
You stay you
Face, hair, build, skin tone and clothes all come from your photo. There is no black sleeveless top unless your photo has one.
The routine in order
A 10-second reference from the fruit-shop version fixes the sequence, from the first slide to the final lunge.
The sudden stops
The joke is the snap between calm and chaos, so the moves are kept sharp rather than smoothed out.
The sound on top
The audio from the source clip is laid under the finished video from the first second, so the steps and the sound line up.
Straight talk
Before you upload
For the best result
- Dress wrong for it. A suit, a uniform or a big coat in your photo makes the sudden footwork funnier.
- Show your whole outfit. Your clothes come from the photo, so a full-body shot gives the render real shoes and trousers.
- One person per photo. Crop group shots down to one person; the generator casts one dancer.
- Borrow the practice joke. Captions like "day 2 of practising" already work on TikTok, and suit a clip this suspiciously good.
Good to know
- One photo in, one 10-second vertical clip out.
- You do the dance yourself; the page is not for putting a celebrity's face on it.
- Your own clothes and hair stay; the dancer's dark outfit is not added.
- The sound from the source clip is added under the video; the song's name is unconfirmed.
- Standard 720p costs 10 credits, 480p costs 5; credits come back if a render fails.
Questions at the fence
Shan Shen Bu FAQ
What is the Shan Shen Bu meme?
Shan Shen Bu (闪身步) is a TikTok dance meme where someone standing calmly suddenly breaks into a loopy flash step, and AI Meme Videos makes your own 10-second version from one photo.
How do I make a Shan Shen Bu AI video of myself?
On AI Meme Videos you upload one photo of yourself, keep Standard 720p or choose 480p, and press generate; your 10-second Shan Shen Bu clip comes back in a few minutes with the sound on it.
How much does a Shan Shen Bu AI video cost?
A Shan Shen Bu video on AI Meme Videos costs 10 credits at the default Standard 720p and 5 credits at 480p. If the 10-second render fails, the credits are returned to your balance automatically.
What does Shan Shen Bu mean?
Shan Shen Bu is the pinyin for 闪身步, which AI Meme Videos would translate loosely as a dodging or flashing body step; TikTok captions use "Chinese flash step" and "feint step". Our 10-second version keeps that sudden sidestep feel.
Where does the Shan Shen Bu dance come from?
The Shan Shen Bu clips AI Meme Videos watched borrow from an instructional dance video with a bald instructor on a blue stage, labelled 闪身步. Who made it is unconfirmed, and so is one caption's claim that it is traditional Han folk dance; the earliest post we could open is from 4 October 2026.
Who is the man in the blue Shan Shen Bu video?
AI Meme Videos could not confirm who the bald instructor in the Shan Shen Bu lesson video is, and none of the captions we read names him. He is not in our 10-second clip, which is based on a separate fruit-shop version.
Who is the dancer outside the fruit shop?
The dancer's name is unconfirmed: AI Meme Videos' Shan Shen Bu reference comes from a post by @china_trending8 with about 1.2 million views on 2 November 2026, and its caption does not name him. In your 10-second render, you replace him.
What song is used in Shan Shen Bu videos?
The song in Shan Shen Bu clips is unconfirmed: TikTok labels it only "original sound", and AI Meme Videos adds the audio from the fruit-shop post under your 10-second render. Several clips appear to share that audio, judging by a volume comparison, though nobody has identified the track.
Will I wear the dancer's dark outfit?
No: a Shan Shen Bu render on AI Meme Videos takes your face, hair, clothes and build from your photo, so you dance in what you wear in the picture. Only the dancer changes; the fruit shop stays for all 10 seconds.
Can I make my cat do Shan Shen Bu?
AI Meme Videos' Shan Shen Bu page is written for one adult person per photo, even though AI cats doing the step are popular on TikTok. A cat photo may not work well, though a failed 10-second render returns its credits.
Is this a CapCut Shan Shen Bu template?
No: AI Meme Videos is not CapCut, and its Shan Shen Bu generator is a separate tool that makes the 10-second clip from your photo on this site. At least one TikTok post of the dance carries CapCut marks; CapCut templates are used inside the CapCut app.
Is the Shan Shen Bu trend still growing?
AI Meme Videos' trend radar marked Shan Shen Bu as sprouting on 23 October 2026. The largest post we found, about 3.3 million views, dates from 21 October and the newest in our list from 24 October; whether it is still growing is unconfirmed.
How long is the clip and what shape is it?
Every Shan Shen Bu video from AI Meme Videos is 10 seconds long and vertical by default, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
